------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ALERT! There has been a rash of burglaries in our neighborhood recently. Most of the activity centers around unlocked cars being entered and items removed late at night.
We had an officer from HCPD speak about this at one of the SJCA meetings. She couldn't emphasize enough how important it is to call the Police when ANY suspicious activity is seen. The police use all information possible to establish patterns, ID’s, profiles, etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Merry Mulch your Holiday Tree! Before you recycle your holiday tree, please remove all tinsel, garland, ornaments, lights, tree stands, plastic bags, etc. Trees are chipped and these items will cause problems to the machines and reduce quality of the finished mulch. *Alpha Ridge Landfill hours: Mon-Sat, 8-4pm Residents can recycle artificial Christmas trees and wreaths with metal components in the scrap metal area at the Alpha Ridge Landfill. Additional info: Curbside Yard Trim Collection Curbside yard trim season runs from April 1st through the third week in January. The last day for curbside yard trim collection will be Friday, January 18, 2013. Residents are reminded that they can recycle yard trim at Alpha Ridge Landfill year round. Residents in the Food Scrap Pilot area will continue to receive weekly collection of food scraps and yard trim. Martin Luther King Jr. Day There will be regular curbside collection on Monday, January 21st. Alpha Ridge Landfill will be open from 8am to 4pm. For holidays that may affect your collection, visit www.howardcountymd.gov/holidayschedule.htm Inclement Weather If trash or recycling collections are cancelled due to snow, ice, or other severe weather, trash and recycling pick-up will be made the following day, if possible, or when road conditions permit. If yard trim collection has been cancelled for the day, yard trim will be collected the following week. Please be patient. During inclement weather, trash and recycling trucks must travel slowly and safely. Contractors have until 7 p.m. to collect your trash and recyclables. Residents are reminded that trash, recycling and yard trim receptacles must be placed at the curb free of snow and ice, so that the collectors can access them. Collection personnel will not dig residents' containers out from under snow or ice. Call 410-313-6444 or visit www.HowardCountyRecycles.org for cancellation and makeup information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recycle Your Used Cooking Oil Keep your pipes running clear and avoid costly plumbing issues Drop off used cooking oil at Alpha Ridge Landfill 2350 Marrioutsville Rd.
